The event begins with a potluck, followed by a talk by Leon Perera on the upcoming elections in Singapore and their implications for the country’s future. Leon will field questions from the audience.
Leon Perera is a Singaporean who works in the market research, consulting, and corporate advisory sector while seeking to give back to society. After obtaining an Honors degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Exeter College, Oxford University, Leon served with the Singapore Economic Board before co-founding an Asia-Pacific market research consultancy.
For 20 years, Leon served with various civil-society organizations (including HOME, the Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centre, AWARE, TWC1, and Maruah) in various capacities, including those of front-line volunteer and Board member, before joining the Workers’ Party and serving as an elected Member of Parliament for Aljunied GRC from 2020-2023.
Leon currently serves on the Board of migrant worker charity HOME as Treasurer. He also volunteers with the Progress Singapore Party. Leon continues his efforts to contribute to an egalitarian, democratic society, because he takes seriously the ideal that every human being is equally important and valuable.
