For More Fine Literature

Singapore Unbound is a NYC-based literary non-profit that promotes Freedom of Expression and Equal Rights for All through cultural exchange between Singapore and the USA. We organize innovative and diverse programs, and provide alternative public platforms for writers to speak their minds. We aim to be independent, innovative, and inspiring.

We organize the biennial Singapore Literature Festival in NYC and the monthly Second Saturdays Reading Series, featuring important Singaporean and American writers of our time. We publish original works, book reviews, and artist interviews on our SP blog. Our new press Gaudy Boy brings authors of Asian heritage to an American audience. Our first title, to be released in March 2018, is Alfian Sa’at’s short-story collection Malay Sketches. We also provide a fellowship for an emerging Singapore writer to come to NYC.

To present our programs, we have partnered with Asia Society New York, Asian American Writers’ Workshop, New York University, Hunter College, Adelphi University, Stony Brook University, Words Without Borders, The Brooklyn Rail, National Translation Month, and Book Culture. We are always looking for opportunities for collaboration.

Our goal is to raise $20 000 for our continued growth. All your donations go towards paying authors, artists, and book reviewers, and for the presentation of their work. Our events are run by volunteers and free to the public. Singapore Unbound is wholly funded by private individuals who are passionate about the arts.

Two easy ways to donate:

1. You can donate by credit card online at Fractured Atlas, our fiscal sponsor. Fractured Atlas is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Contributions for the purposes of Singapore Unbound are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

2. If you prefer, you can also donate by check. Please send contributions to Jee Leong Koh, 3 W 122nd Street, Suite 5D, New York, NY 10027, USA. Checks should be made payable to “Fractured Atlas,” with “Singapore Unbound” in the memo line.

We also appreciate matching gifts, non-cash or in-kind donations. If you live in NYC, you could host a Second Saturdays event, or donate your time, a venue, and F&B. You could also help by spreading the word about this fundraising appeal. Thank you in advance for your generous support.

Be a champion of literature. Support freedom of expression. Donate now.
