Patricia Irvin is a corporate lawyer who was a partner at the Wall Street law firm Milbank, Tweed; served in a policy position at the Pentagon in the Clinton administration; and then held various other legal and executive positions in business and nonprofits, including Head of Operations at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. She graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University and attended Harvard Law School.
Pat’s civic activities have ranged from fundraising for Democratic candidates to service on the boards of Princeton University, the Legal Aid Society, U.S. Committee for Refugees, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. She was also a member of the transition teams for President Clinton and Mayor Dinkins.
In 1984 she founded Practicing Attorneys for Law Students (PALS), which continues to mentor and support law students of color in the New York City area. She is now serving on the board of The Evergreen Review, a historic progressive literary magazine. Meaningful to her is the one-on-one time she spends with younger African American mentees, who find her by word of mouth.
