You are warmly invited to Singapore Unbound’s 10th Anniversary Celebration, wherever you are in the world! Established in 2016, Singapore Unbound envisions and works for a creative and fulfilling life for everyone through the arts and activism. We organize events such as the monthly Second Saturdays Reading Series and the biennial Singapore Literature Festival in NYC. We also publish a literary journal called SUSPECT and books through our close associate Gaudy Boy. To celebrate our 10 years of championing extraordinary Asian voices, we are proud and honored to have our earliest speakers and authors read from their new/recent work: Vijay Seshadri, Gina Apostol, and Tania De Rozario.
Vijay Seshadri was born in India in mid-1950s, and moved to America at the end of that decade. He is the author of the poetry books Wild Kingdom, The Long Meadow, The Disappearances, 3 Sections, and That Was Now, This Is Then, as well as many essays, reviews, and memoir fragments. His work has been recognized with a number of honors, including the Pulitzer Prize for poetry. He teaches at Sarah Lawrence College.
Gina Apostol has been awarded the Rome Prize, the PEN/Open Book Award, and two Philippine National Book Awards, among other honors. She is the author of five novels, among them Insurrecto, named by Publishers Weekly one of the Ten Best Books of 2018; her sixth novel, The Justice League of People of Color Schadenfreude, is coming out in 2027 from Soho Press. She lives in New York City and western Massachusetts and grew up in Tacloban, Leyte, in the Philippines.
Tania De Rozario is an artist, educator, nonprofit worker and author of four books. Her latest book, Dinner on Monster Island (Harper Perennial, 2024), has been described as “sharp and searing” (Ms. Magazine). Her writing has won the New Ohio Review Nonfiction Contest, the Muriel Craft Bailey Memorial Poetry Contest, and Singapore’s Golden Point Award, and was a finalist at the Lambda Literary Awards. She lives and works on the traditional unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.
